Denial
By Laura Adkins

Each quivering footstep is methodical,
careful ears hear agitation clearly shown.
The face who owns the feet is nonchalant,
Yet its disaccord is obvious - it's cover blown.

The spheres of silent sorrow shimmer diversified,
and soon prevail in falling from their sea.
Standing before the mirror in the bathroom,
it is uncanny how the image resembles me.
