Ode To Mathematical Frustration
By Laura Adkins

I have never understood these matters mathematical,
And since I fight them every year, I'm due for a sabbatical!
These numbers, swiftly moving, never cease to disorient me,
No matter whether doing algebra or trigonometry.
A one, a two, carry the three; to me it all seems ancient Greek,
Especially when doing proofs - my work always keeps springing leaks.
It's full of holes and logic leaps, such things I cannot comprehend,
who knew that X could equal Y, and that Z was a dividend?
You say that "and" is represented by two little ampersands?
It seems that this computer girl will never this math understand!

Note: This poem is based on frustrations endured during Dr. Thomas Dence's Discrete Math 1 and 2 classes. It is a universal invariant; I'm not a math person. <sigh>
