I was going for a "Illuminated by nothing but a candle" look and I think it was 90 percent successful. My only complaints are these: (1) I colored too much of the back. Should have left it black, to blend in better. However, this could be due to the fact that... (2) I did a terrible job scanning it. To give you an idea, that paper is supposed to be jet black. The scan job would have you believe it's a light faded black, almost a gray. <Grumbles> But I'm proud that I actually tried to put a PROP in a drawing - a tombstone, which just looks like a lump (but what did you expect?) The original is much darker. The explanation of this is a bit of a spoiler for Rhiannon's story, so I can't divulge too much. Her expression is not one of surprise, but of warmth and care. The tombstone puts an end to a mystery from her childhood. Sketched in HB Graphite on 8.5x11 black Artagain paper, colored in Prismacolors, smoothed with a Prismacolor blender stick. |
